The Lighthouse Internship and Career Exploration Program is a comprehensive curriculum that includes a broad range of career lessons, introspective activities, hands-on experiences, and opportunities for self-growth and reflection. The goal of the Lighthouse Program is to enhance student awareness and knowledge of the ‘world of work’, and to provide students with personal insight and opportunities to develop job related skills.
The Lighthouse Program is composed of four integrated components: Career Exploration, Career Awareness, Occupational Training and Job Skills, and Self Discovery. The Lighthouse curriculum is carefully integrated across all aspects of the MBS program, including classroom instruction during social pragmatics and internship/job shadow opportunities that take place during our elective programming.
Career Awareness: Focuses on teaching students about the world of work. Classes utilize a variety of resources to introduce students to a broad range of career options.
Self Discovery: Students will document and process their personality type(s), strengths and weaknesses, areas of interest and passion, and will gain insight into their learning styles.
Occupational Training and Job Skills: Students will have a chance to develop essential job skills to obtain and maintain employment.
Career Exploration: Allows students the opportunity to expand on their career awareness and occupational skills through their participation in Job Shadows and Internships.
