Bridge Student Life

Independent Living

Middlebridge School’s Bridge Program is designed to reinforce and strengthen independent living skills.  Students will work to gain mastery of the following areas:

    • Self-management skills including personal organization, daily schedules, laundry, and
       weekly/monthly budgeting.

    • Personal wellness plans that promote positive health and nutrition choices.

    • Self-advocacy in multiple settings.

    • Making and maintaining mature relationships.

    • Social pragmatics and communications skills.

Internships and Job Shadows

Students are encouraged to become active members of their community through service learning activities, job shadows, and internships.  Internships and job shadows are excellent opportunities for students to gain valuable experience in an area of interest or passion.

These types of experiences give our students a chance to:

    • Learn more about the daily expectations of a particular career.

    • Practice work related communication skills.

    • Learn how to use new equipment and technology.

    • Take on more responsibility and demonstrate reliability.

    • Build a resume and establish professional contacts for the future.

    • Discover how interests and skill sets are transferrable to potential career paths.

    • Pursue continued post-secondary education and career exploration.
