In many circumstances, students with learning differences may need additional instruction beyond a high school diploma to properly prepare them for the challenges that coincide with independent living, navigating the college environment, and/or pursuing and maintaining employment. For these students, participation in a post-graduate year can open doors to their future that may have previously been beyond their reach.
To help students become more prepared to begin their post-graduate lives, Middlebridge School has created a diverse and unique program for recent high school graduates. Each post-graduate program is designed with the help of the student, his or her parents, and the MBS staff. MBS offers a PG program with diversified curriculum and academic support in conjunction with the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) in Newport.
The Bridge Program Encourages Students To:
• Strengthen academic areas of need
• Enroll in college or vocational classes
• Participate in internships and job shadows/explore areas of interest
• Meet with a tutor 1:1 for academic remediation and college support
• Develop increased social and independent life skills
• Bolster maturity and self confidence for the future
